"April 1985"

The first play, "Lady In A Cage" by P.S. Laughlin, directed by Jean Pearce, told of a mousey little secretary who had given her loyalty to the firm for years then finds she is to be replaced by a younger trendy ( for the times, the thirties), girl. She, Miss Pink, can take no more, and finally her mind gives way. After she has shot her bullying and ungrateful boss she proceeds to eliminate all the other office members, and along the way a police inspector as well.
In "We Need A Man". By Derek Raby, directed by Peter Sherry, the local "ladies" of a small village meet to discuss the annual play. The usual arguments over who, what and how take priority over cups of tea and so on. Catty remarks about each give way to the nitty gritty and three of the ladies reveal the plot of a play they would like to do. But each time after playing out the parts they find they need a man. Strong performances by Pauline Weatherby as Audrey and of course Judith Sherry as Margery.
"Dear Departed" by Stanley Haughton was directed by Peter sherry. This play, set in the early 1900's had a delightful setting and the set was designed appropiately. The storyline proceeds with Mr Slater and the young daughter getting into mourning clothes as Grandfather has "departed this life" and lying upstaires in state. Mr Slater arrives after sending for the other daughter and her husband. Mrs Slater is busily fussing around trying to sort out how their fathers goods are to be devided and sneakily has her husband help her bring down an old bureau from Grandfather's room before Mrs Jordan arrives. The shannanigans that go on before they discover Grandfather is still alive make for a fun play.
