A couple happily married to other partners, become lovers over a twelve month period, after a 'brief encounter' at a railway station, one April afternoon in 1935. Their deep love for each other - alienates them from their own families and surroundings, and they know that ultimately they must part- "but not yet - please not quite yet..." Determined to hurt no-one but themselves - Alec and Laura continue to see and love each other - knowing that the day will soon come when they will have to say 'goodbye', and live their previous life - without each other. Interwoven with their story are two other couples potential love stories - but perhaps their love will need no parting!
